Agriculture

Like other developing economies, agriculture has consistently been the largest sector in Bangladesh. About 50 per cent of the population is employed in this sector and about 60 per cent of the people as a whole depend on agriculture for their livelihood. A significant portion of the poor depend on agriculture as their main source of income and employment.Major crops cultivated include rice, jute, wheat, tea, pulses, oil-seeds, vegetables and fruits.

However, over the last three decades, the average growth in the agricultural sector has been close to 3.2 percent – compared to 7.5 percent in manufacturing and 6.2 percent in services.

Agriculture machinery relates to the mechanical structures and devices used in farming or other agriculture like power tiller, tractor, harvester etc.

Bangladesh has a good agricultural market place and Bangladesh have a huge sector in agriculture.

Bangladesh also export and import many agricultural items. Bangladesh imports such as wheat, soybeans, pulses, fresh fruits, tree nuts and many food product.

Bangladesh is rising export journey day by day. According to the FY 2018-2019, Bangladesh export more than $909 million and the rate of value 35%.

Bangladesh totally dependent on import for agriculture machinery. About 80% of agriculture machinery used in Bangladesh comes from china. Beside china, Bangladesh also import from Japan, India etc. According to the Bangladesh agricultural University, the market for agricultural machinery in our country last year was USD 1.2 billion.
