Although there has been great progress in veterinary treatment, diagnosis and disease surveillance systems in the world, the progress in Bangladesh is not as promising. According to various research data, 35 to 50 percent of production is lost in Bangladesh annually due to various animal diseases.
Besides, there is lack of awareness of people about animal diseases. Whereas fisheries and livestock sector directly involve about 31 percent and indirectly about 61 percent of people.
A data from the best event organizer, Eco Expo shows that, Household livestock and poultry farming also serves as one of the main sources of income for most people in rural Bangladesh. But when these animals get sick, they don’t have a vet close at hand. Or even if a doctor is available, finding effective medication becomes difficult and expensive. 80% of Bangladesh’s market for medicine and its pharmaceuticals is import dependent.
There are several local companies in Bangladesh that specialize in the production and distribution of veterinary medicines. Some well-known suppliers include ACI Limited, Renata Limited, and Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Many international manufacturers of veterinary medicine also export their products to Bangladesh. Some prominent international companies in the field of animal health include Zoetis, Elanco, Merck Animal Health, and Bayer Animal Health.
So, feeling the need of this sector we organize a fair in joint production with China. An up-to-date fair and discussion meeting with Bangladeshi zoologists and Chinese veterinary medicine exporters was held at the fair to develop the sector. The fair was held on 22 July. Some traders successfully complete their business in Mela. Bangladeshi buyers as importers benefit a lot and Chinese sellers as sellers further expand their business by doing business in Bangladesh.
